WHY WE COLLECT "No room in my house gives me more pleasure than my library. I feel like a
king with a room full of buried treasure. Magical treasures, plain on the
outside but full of mysteries and wonders . My library is a reflection of
who I am. There is no better joy than opening some ones life to
literature, and with a stocked library of my favorites I can make a reader
out of anyone . Lastly I feel an instinctive need to gather and protect
these books. I can go back and visit them whenever I want to."
Barry Gellman, Norristown, PA “I love books. They provide information, insight and just plain escape. You can visit places, times and events that you would find impossible in your own life, and from many different perspectives and viewpoints. I don't collect first editions, I am more interested in having a reading copy, with a dust cover in good or better condition. My goal is to have a library with books on enough subjects that I can research when I want to without going to the library. Also, I would like to have most of the classics of world literature.” Doug Whipple, Bothell, WA "My family loves to read and we do not
sell or get rid of authors that we really appreciate. Also, it is a
challenge to see if I can collect all the books from my favorite
authors and it is an investment." Carol Traywicks, Spencer, OK
